The Melody Mouthpieces Classical is the fruit of almost two years of labor. It has a low baffle with a slight rollover at the tip, a medium, rounded-off square chamber, a medium-length elliptical facing curve, and a 1.5-mm tip opening. While all of these factors create different characteristics in different combinations, in this case, they create a mouthpiece that sounds dark and smooth across registers that is easy to play and flexible. I hand-finish and play-test (then disinfect, of course) every one to strict specifications. Each mouthpiece costs $40 and comes with a mouthpiece patch.
Every other mouthpiece on the market for this price is a mass-produced plastic mouthpiece, like the Yamaha 4C or Hite Premier. This, as a hand-finished mouthpiece that has a much more refined design, plays leagues better than mouthpieces like those.
